Campsite Litter: Industry Roundtable

On Monday I had the honour of sitting with a table of Australian music industry professionals, who all were contributing openly about managing Festival Waste and Campsite Litter together, as an industry. Plaudits go to Greener Music Australia and their charming Melbourne rep, Berish Bilander, who co-ordinated a mixed group of professionals, as well as keeping us on time through the day.

After an awesome presentation of material designed by Behaviour Works, an advisory group out of Monash Uni, we were instructed to brainstorm in groups and list ideas that have and have not been tried in the past. There was plenty of optimism and ideas zipping around the room, although it was agreed that the conversation was truly just beginning – and the daunting task of fixing the current behaviour of festival patrons in Australia is going to require more than just ideas, but massive action and co-operation.
