2020 has been a tough year… is a massive understatement.
How has it affected Upcycle? After the 2020 bushfires hit, a wave of Aussie festivals cancelled for the first time. When the pandemic happened, they cancelled for a second time.
Without question, Upcycle’s festival activities are on hold, and the Earth Warriors have had to look for some physically-distanced beaches to clean up. We’re staying creative and keeping busy – as busy as we can be when you often can’t leave the state, or the house.
It may take a season or two, but the Australian festival scene will bounce back, we’re sure of it. Partly because outdoor venues offer plenty of space for 1.5m of separation.
Also partly because everyone is gonna want to throw some parties once this lockdown thing is over. After all, Berlin is still partying 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
To respond to the new viral threat, a special department of the Earth Warriors are ready to deploy to deliver a new message about physical distancing, to ensure the safety of festivals.
In the prophetic words of the SPACE GIRLS, who were sent from the future to clean up the past, with Posh Space totally ripping up the lead vocals:
